Kiti Capere

Kiti Capere was born in Tacoma, Washington, and later raised on the Key Peninsula. Living in tents first, and later in a single-wide trailer her parents found on the side of the road and claimed with a lost title. She has skinned roadkill. Dumpster dived. Collected cans for cash. She has also worked tenant rights initiatives, edited award-winning documentaries, and sang karaoke in the same bar that Neko Case bartended in.None of it feels like the same person. All of it is.In the space of what felt like a single, relentless season, she lost her father, a musician himself, a man of genuine talent who never became what he should have been because alcohol got there first. She left her hometown, career, and marriage to find herself through art. She got sober. She fell, unexpectedly and completely, in love with a troubled creative collaborator - the kind of falling that rearranges your understanding of yourself - and watched it all break apart in the aftermath. She ended up in Nashville, nursing a heartache, and sat down with an up-and-coming songwriter named J4 and wrote her first demo. "Casual" would become the first song from her solo album, Slowdance to Nowhere, produced at BentBeat Productions in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Capere's debut record focuses on her experiences of grief, addiction, love, inheritance, reinvention, personal liberation, inequality, and the cruelty of poor timing. Her uniquely dark and soulful contralto voice delivers belting powerhouse blues along with sultry, lyrical potency.Slowdance to Nowhere is targeted for release in late 2026. She plays her original songs and covers with her band, Kiti and The Consequences in Portland, Oregon.
